Vicksburg woman killed in Alcorn State shooting

LORMAN, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg native was killed in a shooting at Alcorn State University on Saturday. The shooting left Brekyra Fisher(29 years old), of Vicksburg, deceased and two others injured. Claiborne County Coroner Kieon Neal identified the deceased. The victim’s family has been notified.

The shooting occurred near the Industrial Technology Building on campus at approximately 6:30 p.m. As law enforcement arrived, they found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Shortly after the shooting, Alcorn State University issued an alert:

“A shooting has been reported on campus,” the post read. “If you are on campus, seek shelter immediately. Do not leave your secure location until given an all clear by Campus Police.”
