VWSD will monitor weather, determine school closings
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Warren School District released a statement Thursday afternoon concerning the weather and possible school closing for next week.
The release stated VWSD is closely monitoring winter weather conditions due to unsafe roads and the potential for ice across the area. District officials will actively track forecasts and road conditions and are consulting with Warren County emergency officials to guide all decisions.
A decision regarding school operations for Monday, Jan. 26, 2026 will be made by 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026. Following the briefing, a decision regarding school operations for Tuesday, Jan. 27,2026 will be announced by 2 p.m. on Monday.
VWSD said the safety of students, staff, and families remains the district’s top priority. Families and employees are encouraged to take necessary safety precautions, limit travel when possible, and continue to monitor official district communication channels for updates.
