Warren Central Intermediate Celebrates Academic Excellence with “Blazing Trails” Theme, honors student Karter Galloway with Special Recognition

Vicksburg, MS – October 8, 2024

Warren Central Intermediate School held a spirited celebration on Tuesday, recognizing over 110 students for their outstanding performance on the 2024 Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP). The event, themed “Blazing Trails: Celebrating Western Excellence,” honored students who achieved Advanced and Proficient scores, highlighting their hard work and dedication to academic success.

Among the recognized students, six earned special distinction for achieving perfect scores on the MAAP Assessments. However, the highlight of the event was the recognition of 5th-grade student Karter Galloway, who became the star of the day. As the audience buzzed with anticipation, student program leaders set the stage by searching for the “Most Wanted Student”—one who made a perfect score in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Math while in 4th grade.

Karter, who met these impressive qualifications, was met with thunderous applause and a standing ovation from the audience. In honor of this exceptional achievement, Karter was presented with a massive trophy and the unique distinction of having October 8, 2024, officially declared as “Karter Galloway Day” at Warren Central Intermediate School.

Mrs. Alicia Moreland, Karter’s 4th-grade ELA teacher, expressed her deep pride and joy upon witnessing the recognition of her former student. “Seeing Karter receive such an incredible honor was truly overwhelming,” she shared. “As an educator, there’s no greater joy than witnessing your students’ success, especially at this level. Knowing that my work played a role in helping Karter achieve his potential fills me with immense pride and gratitude. Moments like these remind me why I became a teacher in the first place.”

The day of celebration continued after the ceremony, as students were treated to a Ranch Style Picnic and Fun Day, allowing them to bask in their achievements and enjoy a well-deserved break.

The school’s Western-themed event captured the essence of “Blazing Trails,” marking a memorable moment for both students and faculty, with Karter Galloway’s historic recognition serving as the crowning achievement of the day.

Karter is the son of Reginald Galloway (Registered Nurse at Merit Health River Region & Captain/Paramedic at VFD) and Khadijah Anderson (Registered Nurse at Merit Health River Region).

He was also acknowledged by Alderman TJ Mayfield with the AMAZE Award on September 10th for his achievements.
