Ward 1 Alderman Mayfield recognizes a group of hard-working teens

Ward 1 Alderman TJ Mayfield recognized a group of Vicksburg teenagers on Monday.

Fabian Moore, Corderrion Valentine, Devin Banks, and Felton Moore were all called to Mayfield’s office where he presented them with a certificate of appreciation for their hard work. The mother of Valentine, Shakayla Dixon, was also recognized for her role in the teen’s achievement.

A couple of weeks ago, the teens gained national attention when Valentine got a job at Burger King in Clinton, Mississippi where his mother works. He then turned around and got his friends hired as well. The teens all decided to work hard this summer and earn extra money instead of staying home or vacationing.

Alderman Mayfield saw fit to recognize these young men for being such an inspiration to everyone.

“I see young people going viral across America so I know for a fact we need to celebrate them in our hometown,” Mayfield said. “I’m excited to see them working and helping their friends.”

The boys not only received local coverage, but actor/comedian Nick Cannon also shared their success story and over 100,000 people reacted the the post.

Weeks after their viral post, these teens continue to inspire those around them.
