VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — An Athens Drive woman shot her boyfriend after he tried to get into her teenage daughter’s window and threw a substance, believed to be bleach, into her eyes, according to an eyewitness.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., a call was received at the 911 call center reporting a gunshot in the area of Athens Drive and Alcorn Drive. When police arrived, they found a 47-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the right thigh. The bullet entered his thigh, but there was no evidence that it exited his body, according to sources.

An eyewitness reported the boyfriend arrived at the residence a few minutes earlier and was banging on a window, trying to get into the teenage daughter’s bedroom. The daughter called her mother, who was at a high school football game. The mother rushed home, and when she arrived, an altercation with her boyfriend included him throwing a substance, believed to be bleach, into her eyes, according to an eyewitness. At some point after he was alleged to have thrown bleach into her eyes, she shot at him. The bullet hit him in the thigh.

Numerous units with the Vicksburg Fire Department, including Engine 3, and several units from the Vicksburg Police Department were on scene gathering evidence.

The victim was transported to an area hospital. The mother was in police custody at the scene and her current situation is unknown. The Vicksburg Daily News will update this story as more information is made available.
