“Y’all get up and do something”: Vicksburg’s Chris Lynn turns viral TikToks into a movement for positivity

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — What started as a lighthearted way to make memories with his grandson, has turned into a full-fledged career for Chris Lynn, a Vicksburg man whose Southern charm, simple truths and signature catchphrases have captured audiences far beyond Mississippi.
After decades in the equipment industry—working his way up from field technician to district service manager—Lynn didn’t set out to be a full-time social media influencer. But when his employer and he parted ways, he picked up his phone, opened TikTok, and unknowingly launched the next chapter of his life.
“I started the page just to have fun with my grandson,” Lynn said. “Then one day I posted a video of me pulling my boat with my lawnmower, and people loved it. It went viral, and before I knew it, brands were reaching out to collaborate.”
When his follower count hit 10,000, the product partnerships and commissions started rolling in. Lynn embraced the opportunity, blending humor, nostalgia, and encouragement into content that resonates with thousands.
His trademark greetings—“Alright people,” “Y’all get up and do something,” and “Ain’t no doubt”—have become rallying calls for positivity.
“I want to promote laughter, encouragement and love,” Lynn said. “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, what matters is your heart.”
Lynn often draws inspiration from his hometown, weaving Vicksburg’s people, river, and stories from his childhood into his videos. Many of his posts are unscripted, filmed while mowing grass, cooking out, or enjoying time on the water.
“I think my stories remind people of simpler times, of loved ones they miss, or they just make folks laugh and that’s good for the soul,” he said.
The response has been deeply personal. Lynn has received messages from viewers across the country and the world, many sharing how his videos helped them through difficult times. One follower even credited his content with helping them find the will to recover from a struggle with addiction.
Despite his upbeat persona, Lynn doesn’t shy away from vulnerability. He has shared pieces of his journey after losing his son in 2011, and plans to open up more about that chapter of his life.
“I want people to know I’ve faced hard times too, but I try to keep things positive and leave them with a smile,” he said.
Now, Lynn’s calendar is filling fast with events and appearances—from expos and drag track features to a dove hunt with country music artists and an invitation to the BRP Club 2026 event in Boston. Wherever he goes, his mission remains the same: bring people together.
“At a time when our nation is so divided, we need more compassion,” Lynn said. “Sometimes, all it takes is a smile, a laugh, or a reminder that there’s still good in the world.”
