Person on bicycle hit at intersection of Johnson and Washington

VICKSBURG, MS. – A crash between a vehicle and a person on a bicycle occurred at the intersection of Johnson and Washington Street just after 5 p.m.

Vicksburg Police Department and Vicksburg Fire and Rescue are on the scene where injuries are reported. The person operating the bicycle is being transported to a Jackson hospital.

No further Information is available at this time.

UPDATE – Fire Chief Derrick Stamps responded to the Vicksburg Daily News via text with the following: “Around 1704 this evening, the Vicksburg Fire Department received a call regarding a truck colliding with a bicycle at the intersection of Washington St. and Johnson St. Upon reaching the scene, emergency crews discovered a 32-year-old male lying in the street, clearly suffering from a severe head injury as a result of the accident. The injured individual was promptly transported by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) for urgent medical attention.”
