Halls Ferry needs signage

Letter to the Editor vs 2

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — I suppose this is a letter to the editor. I think that the residents on Halls Ferry Road suffer from a lack of signage indicating its residential status, particularly between Williams Road by Posey’s Barber Shop and the Halls Ferry/Fisher Ferry Road split by the Valero service station.

Many houses have driveways that exit onto Halls Ferry in that area, and those residents have to deal with drivers on Halls Ferry that act more as if Hall Ferry is a thoroughfare than a residential area.

I believe that area could benefit from some prominent marking on its boundaries highlighting this residential status. Some would ignore it, but it could make at least some drivers more mindful when they are passing through.

VPD would have to pick up the slack for those who ignore the signs as they already do, but maybe some signage could lighten that load, and enhance public safety. Perhaps the city could pick this idea up for action.

Sincerely,

Bruce Carleton
