Warren Central defeats Ridgeland 9-4
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Warren Central High School baseball team picked up a 9-4 win over Ridgeland on Tuesday, using timely hitting and solid pitching to secure the victory.
Ridgeland struck first in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead, but Warren Central answered in the bottom half to tie the game at 1-1 after Caden Cole delivered an RBI hit.
The Vikings took control in the fourth inning when Ryan Steel hit a triple that drove in two runs to give Warren Central a 3-1 advantage. Cole added another RBI with a single in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 4-1.
Ridgeland responded in the fifth inning with three runs to even the score at 4-4.
Warren Central regained the lead in the sixth inning when Justin Greer recorded an RBI. The Vikings added to their lead in the seventh inning as Trace Hood hit a two-run double. A wild pitch later brought in the final run of the night to seal the 9-4 win.
On the mound, Nathaniel Moore struck out four batters in the win. Tristan Jamison added three strikeouts and allowed no hits, while Cole struck out one batter and also allowed no hits.
At the plate, Landon Hasty went 2 for 3. Steel and Hood each finished with two hits and two RBIs. Charlie Roberts, Greer, Jamison, Cole and Justin Evans all recorded one hit, with Cole also driving in a run.
St. Aloysius:
St. Aloysius took a 9-6 loss to Adams County Christian School. Sadler Lambiotte, Mason Bourne(2 RBIs), and Cohen Coomes(1 RBI) each had two hits. Pierson Smith had one hit.
Coomes struck out five batters and Walt Andrews struck out two.
