The Vicksburg Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on April 8, 2026, around 8:00 p.m. in the area of Athens Avenue.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire and learned that one individual sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle and is currently listed in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation indicates that this incident stemmed from an ongoing issue between the victim and the suspect. Investigators are actively working the case and have identified a person of interest.
