Resident updates BOMA on Jackson Street property

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A Vicksburg resident appeared before the City of Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Alderman at the regular meeting held Monday, July 20, to discuss a property on Jackson Street.

Cynthia Milton wrote to the BOMA on July 10, formally requesting to appear before the Board concerning the property located at 1702 Jackson Street in Vicksburg.

Milton explained the property was significantly damaged by vandalism which included broken windows, damage to the siding on the residence and electrical issues. Additionally, there was damage due to a tree falling resulting from a storm.

Milton said the windows were repaired, the siding was replaced, the electrical box was restored and the fallen tree was removed. Milton also stated a dumpster was utilized and items were removed from the home which others had placed inside the residence.

“It is our position that the house is now in keeping with the aesthetic of the neighborhood, and so we respectfully ask that it be taken off the demolition list,” said Milton to the Board.

Mayor Willis Thompson thanked Milton for addressing the Board.
