Shaniyah Walker, a Vicksburg native and former Vicksburg High School standout, has committed to continue her track and field career at Grambling State University.

Walker announced her commitment on social media last week, sharing photos featuring Grambling State graphics as she revealed her decision.

She spent the past two seasons competing at Hinds Community College after an accomplished high school career at Vicksburg High.

While at VHS, Walker helped lead the Missy Gators to four consecutive district championships. She won the MHSAA state championship in the 4×400-meter relay as a junior before capping her senior season in 2024 with state titles in the 400-meter dash and the 4×200-meter relay.

Walker will now compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference as she continues both her academic and athletic career at Grambling State.
