Story from ASU Athletics
LORMAN, MS — With a large crowd expected in the stands and thousands more tailgating outside, Alcorn State University encourages fans to arrive early to the campus in Lorman for the Saturday, November 23, 2024 football game against Jackson State at 2:00 p.m.  The campus will open for general parking at 4:00 a.m. However, tailgaters can arrive even earlier.  Below are timeframes for parking areas:

Reserved RV Opens               Thursday, November 21         12 noon
Tailgate Opens                        Friday, November 22              12 noon
Overflow RV Opens                Friday, November 22              12 noon

All tailgating equipment must be removed by midnight on Saturday.  All RV lots will close at 12:00 noon on Sunday.  Alcorn State University prides itself on having a “family atmosphere” during athletic events.  Fans are encouraged to be mindful of their choices of music so as not to be offensive to others.  Excessively vulgar music (noise pollution) may be reported to ASU Campus Police (601-877-3000).

As you approach the campus, color-coded signage will indicate accessible parking areas. The airstrip behind the stadium will be accessible from Highway 552 at a reduced rate of $20 per vehicle. This area places fans in close proximity to the stadium. Parking on the airstrip behind the stadium will be weather-dependent.  Airstrip parking will be cash only.

Fans should park in their assigned reserved spaces and/or areas as directed by the event staff.  Alcorn has contracted with a tow truck company for expeditious service.  Vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense for failure to follow directions and/or parking in error in reserved lots.

The main entry gate to the campus will only be for allow entry only for the following:
General Tailgate (Green and Gray Lots)
Reserved Tailgate (Red and Orange Lots)
VIP Parking (Gold Lot)
Premium Parking (Blue and Purple Lots)
Bus/RVs
ADA Parking
Media (Gray Lot)

The only passes that will be sold at the main entry are for General Tailgate ($65).  General parking may continue (right lane only) to Highway 552 to access the Special Event Parking Lot General Parking ($35) or the back entrance for additional general parking ($35).  Note that General Parking passes will not provide access to the tailgate areas around the stadium.  Access to any of the tailgate areas requires a tailgate pass ($65).

The designated ADA parking lot is located across the street from the stadium.  Transport services are available and may be requested by notifying event working personnel.
The university will offer a complimentary shuttle service (trolley service) to the stadium and parking locations before, during, and after the game.  After the game, the pickup location will be at the home side of the stadium ticket booth and will travel around the stadium perimeter to assist with transporting fans.

No ATVs are allowed, but the university continues to allow golf carts during athletic events. Golf carts will be restricted from traveling through the VIP parking lot from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For safety concerns, children under 16 years old are restricted from driving golf carts.

Beginning Friday, November 22, 2024, only students with the appropriate residential decal will be allowed to access the residential parking areas.  On Saturday, November 23, campus will be a “walking campus” 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. for students.  All student cars must remain parked, and the back gate will close at 5:00 p.m.

Fans can help the process by purchasing tickets and parking online, printing or presenting the QR code for entry, properly displaying parking passes, and planning to arrive early.  Due to unpredictable cellular connectivity, be sure to download it before entering campus and ensure it is correct (parking or tickets).
Alcorn has a clear bag policy.  The gates to the stadium will open at 11:00 a.m.
