Three Injured in Head-On Crash Fisher Ferry Vicksburg

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) Three people were injured in a head-on crash that happened on Fisher Ferry near its intersection with Shady Grove. Two of those patients were in critical condition at the time of this report.

Details of the Head-On Crash on Fisher Ferry

A truck and an SUV collided head-on at about 8 p.m. in the 2000 block of Fisher Ferry. Both sustained significant damage to the front end. First responders used “the jaws of life” to extract some of the victims from their vehicles. The southbound truck had Louisiana tags, and the northbound SUV had Jefferson County tags with “Seniors” painted on the back window.

Emergency Response to the Vicksburg Accident

Numerous units from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, including WC-24 Daniel Thomas, along with the Warren County Fire Service, including Michael Baker, responded to the accident scene. Three ambulances were dispatched to treat and transfer the patients. Two Air Care helicopters were requested to treat the two most critically wounded passengers.

One of those Air Care units landed at nearby Key City Park and was able to transport the most critical victim to a Jackson-area hospital safely. The second Air Care unit had to cancel due to a mechanical issue, forcing a third medical helicopter to be dispatched. That helicopter was later forced to turn around and head back due to inclement weather. The patient was then transported to a Jackson-area hospital by ambulance.

There is no update on their condition beyond both being critical. The third patient’s injuries, while serious, did not appear to be life-threatening.

Fisher Ferry was shut down for over an hour while the victims were treated and to allow Deputies from Warren County to investigate the accident.
