Bobby Johnston, 10/19/34 – 12/11/23

Robert Bailey Johnston, Jr, (Bobby) passed away Monday, December 11, 2023. He was 89. Bobby was born in Holly Bluff, MS on October 19th, 1934 to Robert Bailey Johnston, Sr and Evelyn Annie Tavenner Johnston.

In 1951, Bobby was wed to the love of his life, Johnie Ruth DeWeese and they made their home and started their family in Vicksburg soon after. For over 50 years, he was employed in several capacities by the Cappaert family, through Magnolia Mobile Homes, Guerdon Industries and Cappaert Manufactured Housing.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, by his five sisters: Marie Clayton (Stanley), Lorene Nichols Craft, Katie Johnston, Esther Ross (Roy), and Wade House (Jim). He was also proceeded in death by his wife of 68 years, Johnie Ruth. We are so grateful that they are reunited in Heaven.

He is survived by his three children: Bettye Ralon (Don), Ronnie Johnston (Jean) and Sandy Terrell (Allen). Six granddaughters: Sara Gaul (Michael), Liz Rackoff (Michael), Abigail Perry (Shawn), Kate Perez (Ty), Kaycie Walters, and Sara Allen (Joshua). Great-grandchildren Madeleine, Conner, Gracie, Isaac, Sawyer, Abel, Addison, Hunter, Olivia, and JJ. Bobby is also survived by his brother William E. Johnston, Sr. (Viola), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Friday, December 15, 2023 at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg MS. Visitation will be 12-2 at the funeral home with graveside services following.

Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Shawn Perry, Isaac Summers, Allen Terrell, Mike Walters and Ty Wilson.

Mr. Walter King, along with the rest of the staff at Vicksburg Convalescent Center will serve as honorary pallbearers.
