VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Brad Nolan has been named the head girls flag football coach at Warren Central High School, becoming the program’s first coach as the inaugural season begins next month.

“I’m excited and I’ve always loved coaching,” Nolan said. “I coached my sons when they played Pop Warner and I did two tours as a drill instructor and watching the development of the youth is something I passionately enjoy.”

A Columbus, Ohio native, Nolan serves as a JROTC instructor and spent 20 years in the Marine Corps. He completed two tours in Iraq and one tour each in Afghanistan and the Philippines. Before joining the military, Nolan played middle linebacker at Westerville South High School, where he also competed in wrestling.

With the season quickly approaching, Nolan said he has clear goals for his team.

“We’re going to measure success through the development of the football players,” Nolan said. “If we can develop the girls into good football players with leadership, skills and capabilities, that to me is the measurement of success.”

Nolan will take over one of the nation’s fastest-growing sports and said he is eager to continue learning while helping his players grow both on and off the field.

The inaugural season is scheduled to begin March 26 when the Vikings travel to face Greenville High School.
