John Wyatt Massey leads Coahoma past Hinds with big day at the plate

CLARKSDALE, Miss.(VDN) — John Wyatt Massey, a Vicksburg native, led the Coahoma Community College baseball team at the plate in a 12-4 win over Hinds Community College on Friday.

In Game 1, Massey went 4 for 5 with two doubles. The sophomore delivered one of the biggest moments in the sixth inning when he ripped a three-run double. He finished with three RBIs.

Massey, a 2024 graduate of Porter’s Chapel Academy, is in his second season with the program. He was also named VDN’s Player of the Year. As a freshman, he collected 19 hits, two home runs and 14 RBIs.
