Jefferson County girls claim district title with 47-33 win over Franklin County

FAYETTE, Miss.(VDN) — The Jefferson County High School girls basketball team is now the district champions after a 47-33 victory over Franklin County High School. The win improves the Lady Tigers to 25-3 on the season under head coach Travalyn Smith. Jefferson County is also a perfect 15-0 at home.

In the championship game, Adrianna Gaines poured in 28 points to lead the way. Serenity Hammitte finished with eight points, while Charnecia Bates added seven. Kassidy McComb chipped in two points.

Jefferson County will host West Marion at 6 p.m. Monday. The Lady Tigers are riding a five-game winning streak and closed district play with an 8-2 record.
