VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Genesis Phelps, Vicksburg native, led the YMCA in scoring during the 2026 basketball season, starring for the Giants in the 10-12 age division while averaging nearly 20 points per game.

Phelps turned in one of her top performances Thursday, pouring in 26 points in a 47-16 win over the Bears. A couple of weeks earlier, she added 25 points in another victory as she continued to separate herself as the league’s top scorer.

Playing under Coach Johnson, Phelps helped guide the Giants to a perfect 6-0 record and a championship season.
