Warren Central sweeps through River City Tournament with two victories

Warren Central achieved a perfect record at the River City Tournament, winning two matches against Vicksburg and St. Aloysius. The Lady Vikes showcased their junior varsity talent, finishing the tournament unbeaten.

Warren Central went unbeaten Saturday at the River City Tournament hosted by St. Aloysius High School, earning two victories while competing with its junior varsity players.

The Lady Vikes defeated Vicksburg High School and St. Aloysius in straight sets. The host Lady Flashes finished with one victory, defeating Vicksburg, while the Missy Gators dropped both of their matches.

Game 1: Warren Central def. Vicksburg, 25-5, 25-14

Warren Central opened tournament play with a dominant performance against Vicksburg, taking the first set 25-5 before closing out the match with a 25-14 victory in the second.

Lauren Stamps helped Warren Central with 12 points and six aces, while Katie Warnock finished with 13 points and two aces. Audie Evans added seven points and two aces.

Vicksburg’s individual statistics were not recorded for the match.

  • Natalee Downs: 1 point
  • Audie Evans: 7 points, 2 aces
  • Lauren Stamps: 12 points, 6 aces

Game 2: St. Aloysius def. Vicksburg, 25-17, 26-24

St. Aloysius picked up its victory with a two-set win over Vicksburg. The Lady Flashes won the opening set 25-17 before edging the Missy Gators 26-24 in a tight second set.

Lauren Flowers scored nine points for St. Aloysius in the opening set, while Ashia Dixon added six and Harper Hill finished with four. Addison Bednar and Presley Carr each scored seven points in the second set.

Kenley Henderson and Jakia Truitt each scored five points for Vicksburg in the first set, while Peyton White added four. Truitt led the Missy Gators with eight points in the second set, followed by Henderson with five and Jermaria Wright with four.

St. Aloysius stats:

Game 3: Warren Central def. St. Aloysius, 25-21, 25-12

Warren Central completed its unbeaten tournament run by defeating host St. Aloysius in straight sets.

The Lady Vikes battled to a 25-21 victory in the opening set before pulling away for a 25-12 win in the second. Stamps led Warren Central with 12 points and three aces, while Braelynn Warren recorded 11 points and two aces. Warnock added 10 points and one ace.

Carr and Morgan Tzotzolas led St. Aloysius with four points apiece, while Bednar and Camille Jeffers each finished with three points.
