Jordan Polk earns Hinds CC Player of the Week honors. VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —

Jordan Polk, a Vicksburg native, has been named Player of the Week for the Hinds Community College women’s soccer team.

Hinds CC Women’s Soccer Team Success

The team announced the honor over the weekend after Polk played a key role in Hinds’ 2-0 win over Mississippi University for Women last week.

Polk helped the Lady Eagles break a scoreless tie in the second half by providing the assist on the first goal of the match. She then scored just 34 seconds later to give Hinds a 2-0 advantage.

Polk is in her freshman season at Hinds. The Lady Eagles will return to action Tuesday against East Mississippi Community College at Tom Shepherd Field.

The Hinds Community College women’s soccer team picked up a 2-0 road victory over Mississippi University for Women on Tuesday evening, Sept. 1, getting a pair of second-half goals just 34 seconds apart to secure the shutout win.

After a scoreless opening half, Hinds broke through in the 61st minute. Mary Elise Taylor put the Lady Eagles on the board at the 60:31 mark, with Jordan Polk providing the assist to give Hinds a 1-0 advantage.

Just 34 seconds later, Hinds doubled their lead. Polk found the back of the net at 61:05, with Amelia Terry credited with the assist, pushing the Hinds advantage to 2-0.

The Hinds defense took care of the rest, preserving the clean sheet for goalkeeper Anna-Lynn Bishop, who recorded a save in the victory.

Hinds will have the weekend off before returning to action on Tuesday, September 8 against East Mississippi CC at Tom Shepherd Field. Kickoff is set for 5 PM.
