VHS volleyball takes down Cleveland Central in five-set district battle
Vicksburg High School’s volleyball team achieved a significant district win against Cleveland Central, triumphing in a five-set match. The victory places VHS in second place in the district standings, showcasing strong teamwork and individual performances.

Vicksburg High School’s volleyball team earned a key district victory over Cleveland Central on Thursday, winning a five-set battle after being swept by the Lady Wolves last month.
This time around, the Missy Gators flipped the result.
VHS battled through all five sets before securing the 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 18-25, 15-8 victory.
“This was amazing and we can accomplish a lot when we work together,” VHS Head Coach Linda Johnson said.
Hustle proved to be a major factor in the victory as the Missy Gators continued to battle throughout the night. VHS responded each time Cleveland Central gained momentum and finished the job with a seven-point win in the decisive fifth set.
“Having a conversation with them about playing as a team really helped and they came out and got it done,” Johnson added.
Vicksburg High School Volleyball: Key Players and Statistics
Kenley Henderson led VHS with 22 points, seven kills, three aces, one block and 35 digs. Jermaria Wright also finished with 35 digs, along with 15 points, two aces and one kill.
Zaria Jones recorded 16 points, three kills, two aces and 30 digs, while Zipporah Drake had 15 points, one ace, one kill and 25 digs. Alaina Williams contributed 17 points, two kills, one ace and 25 digs.

- Zipporah Drake: 1 ace, 15 points, 1 kill, 25 digs
- Jermaria Wright: 2 aces, 15 points, 1 kill, 35 digs
- Alaina Williams: 1 ace, 17 points, 2 kills, 25 digs
- Divine Tulloch: 1 ace, 3 points
- Kenley Henderson: 3 aces, 22 points, 7 kills, 1 block, 35 digs
- Ny’Keria Watson: 3 points, 5 digs
- Madisyn Kimble: 4 points, 1 kill
- Zaria Jones: 2 aces, 16 points, 3 kills, 30 digs
- Harmony Harris: 10 points, 23 digs
Junior Varsity Team’s Success
Vicksburg’s junior varsity team also came away with a victory, sweeping Cleveland Central 25-11, 25-17.
Taliyah McDaniel led the JV defense with 21 digs while adding eight points. Madisyn Kimble scored 11 points and recorded seven digs, while Kamaya Wilson finished with nine points and nine digs.

With the victory, VHS moved into second place in its district standings.
