Warren Central rolls past Pearl 40-14 to improve to 2-0
Warren Central High School defeated Pearl 40-14, improving their record to 2-0. The Vikings showcased a strong offense and defense, highlighted by an 81-yard touchdown run from Xavier Jackson. They will next face Germantown on Friday.

Warren Central rolls past Pearl 40-14 to improve to 2-0. VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
Warren Central High School remained unbeaten Friday night as the Vikings used a balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive performance to earn a 40-14 win over Pearl.
The Vikings had no trouble finding the end zone on their opening drive. Ke’Anthony Wynn caught a 10-yard pass from quarterback Nash Morgan, while Javid Scott picked up 15 yards on the ground and Morgan used his legs to keep the drive moving.
With 8:14 remaining in the first quarter, Scott powered in for a 5-yard touchdown. Nick Lee connected on the extra point to give Warren Central a 7-0 lead.
The Vikings’ defense quickly forced Pearl to punt on its first possession.
Warren Central went back to the passing game on its next drive. Doss Morgan caught a 17-yard pass from Nash Morgan, and Cameron Zellous hauled in a 28-yard reception. Xavier Jackson also broke free for a 20-yard run, but an interception ended the scoring threat.
The Vikings’ defense responded with another stop, including a key play by Cole Nolan.
Scott then helped Warren Central move down the field with runs of 11 and 13 yards. Jackson finished the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run, and Lee’s extra point increased the lead to 14-0 in the second quarter.
Fabien Davenport continued Warren Central’s strong defensive performance by making a big tackle in the backfield.
The Vikings soon found the end zone again. Wynn broke loose for a 29-yard run, while Jordan Taylor caught a quick pass across the middle. Nash Morgan eventually finished the drive with an 8-yard touchdown run. Lee added the extra point to put Warren Central ahead 21-0.
Pearl got on the scoreboard shortly before halftime with a touchdown pass, cutting Warren Central’s lead to 21-7 at the break.
Davenport delivered another big hit in the backfield after halftime before the Vikings added to their lead.
Warren Central’s Dominant Performance
Jackson provided the biggest offensive play of the night in the third quarter when he broke free for an 81-yard touchdown run. Lee made the extra point to extend Warren Central’s advantage to 28-7.
Lee then showed off his leg in the kicking game. He connected on a 27-yard field goal later in the third quarter to make it 31-7 before drilling a 41-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give Warren Central a 34-7 lead.
Pearl scored on another long touchdown pass with seven minutes remaining, cutting the score to 34-14.
Warren Central’s Winning Streak
Aidan Lumpkin capped the scoring for Warren Central by breaking free for a 21-yard touchdown run.
The victory improved Warren Central to 2-0 on the season. The Vikings will travel to face Germantown next Friday.
