Flashes defeat Central Hinds 6-5
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — St. Aloysius improved to 15-10 on the season with a 6-5 win over Central Hinds Academy on Tuesday night, finishing with eight hits.
The Flashes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning as Cohen Coomes and Walt Andrews each delivered RBI hits. Central Hinds answered in the third inning to cut the deficit to 2-1, then took a 3-2 lead in the fourth with two runs.
St. Aloysius regained control in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. Pierson Smith drove in a run, Andrews added a steal of home, and Coomes followed with an RBI single. Central Hinds tied the game at 5-5 with a home run before the sixth inning.
In the sixth, Andrews delivered the game-winning RBI single to give the Flashes a 6-5 lead.
Coomes led the offense, going 3 for 4 with two RBIs, while Keller Bradley added two hits. Robert Lee, JT Smith and Andrews, who had two RBIs, each recorded one hit.
The Flashes used five pitchers in the win. Bradley struck out four, Emerson Blackburn had two strikeouts, and Coomes added one.
