Pant throws no-hitter as Warren Central splits games at Pearl tournament
PEARL, Miss.(VDN) — The Warren Central High School softball team split a pair of games Saturday at the Pearl tournament, falling 3-2 to Pearl before rebounding with an 8-0 win over Richland.
In the opener, MK Ferguson and Maddy Pant each delivered an RBI to account for the Lady Vikes’ runs. KeKe McKay and Olivia Maher added one hit apiece.
KK Williamson pitched most of the contest and recorded four strikeouts.
Warren Central bounced back in Game 2 behind a dominant performance from Pant, who tossed a no-hitter. She struck out eight batters and did not allow a hit or a run.
Laney Bennett(Laney B) blasted her second consecutive home run of the season, a two-run shot. McKay led the way at the plate by going 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Ferguson tripled and drove in a run, while Pant, Emily Muirhead and Maher each collected a hit. Williamson added an RBI.
In other tournament action, Vicksburg High School dropped a 13-1 decision to Ridgeland and fell 5-4 to West Lincoln.
Shandrea Lockridge recorded the lone hit for VHS in Game 1. Statistics for the West Lincoln game were not available and will be added once released.
