Port Gibson baseball team picked up two road wins this week
PORT GIBSON, Miss.(VDN) — The Port Gibson High School baseball team collected a pair of road wins earlier this week, defeating Porter’s Chapel Academy and Vicksburg High School.
Port Gibson opened the week Monday with a 17-1 victory over Porter’s Chapel.
Braylin Carter went 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Nathan Jones tripled and finished 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Tony Johnson, Devin McDonald, L Derby and Javion McGrew each added a hit, while Derby and McGrew drove in two runs apiece.
Centrell Hedrick struck out nine batters in the win.
On Thursday, the Blue Waves traveled to Vicksburg and came away with a 15-7 win.
McGrew highlighted the night with a three-run double and finished with two hits and four RBIs. Michael Evans also had two hits, including a two-run double, and drove in two RBIs.
Joshua Jones recorded one hit and two RBIs, Hedrick added a hit and Nathan Jones finished with one RBI. On the mound, Evans struck out nine batters while Hedrick fanned eight.
Port Gibson will host South Pike on Tuesday.
