VJHS improves to 4-0
Vicksburg Junior High School improved to 4-0 after defeating Brandon 30-6, remaining undefeated under head coach Larry Carter Jr. The Gators are one win away from claiming the West Division championship with their next game against Madison Middle School.

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
Vicksburg Junior High School remained undefeated Tuesday night as the Gators defeated Brandon 30-6 to improve to 4-0 under head coach Larry Carter Jr.
With the victory, VJHS remains the No. 1 team in the West Division and is one win away from claiming the division championship.
The Gators struck first when quarterback D’Chance Thigpen connected with Sam Jackson for a 40-yard touchdown pass. Brandon quickly responded with a long touchdown pass to tie the game at 6-6.
VJHS reclaimed the lead when Thigpen found Kaleb Sims for a 15-yard touchdown pass. Malcolm Turner added the 2-point conversion to give the Gators a 14-6 lead heading into halftime.
Kaden Robinson also made his presence felt defensively with a sack.
The Gators extended their lead in the third quarter when Turner broke free for a 15-yard touchdown run. Thigpen ran in the 2-point conversion to push the lead to 22-6.
Before the end of the third quarter, Rush Sudds came up with a big tackle in the backfield to help keep Brandon off the scoreboard.
Turner continued his big night at the start of the fourth quarter by grabbing an interception. VJHS then delivered its final touchdown when Thigpen connected with Sims for a 90-yard score. Thigpen added another 2-point conversion to give the Gators a 30-6 lead.
Jordan Ingrum also recorded a sack for the VJHS defense.
The Gators will face Madison Middle School next Tuesday with an opportunity to claim the West Division championship with a victory.
