Lady Vikes defeat crosstown rival VHS for ninth straight victory
Warren Central High School’s volleyball team secured its ninth consecutive victory by defeating Vicksburg High School in three sets. The Lady Vikes dominated with scores of 25-4, 25-14, and 25-10, maintaining their winning streak without dropping a set.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) —
Warren Central High School’s volleyball team extended its winning streak to nine matches Monday with a three-set victory over crosstown rival Vicksburg High School.
The Lady Vikes defeated the Missy Gators 25-4, 25-14 and 25-10. Warren Central has not dropped a set during its seven-match winning streak.
“I’m very proud of them, and we’ve been working on not missing as many serves in a game,” Warren Central head coach Leighton Willoughby said. “They did great at it.”
Willoughby said the Lady Vikes’ success during the streak has brought some pressure, but it is a position the team is grateful to be in.
“With us being on this winning streak, we haven’t lost a set, but it’s a great pressure to have, and we’re very grateful for how this season is going,” Willoughby said.
Kennedi Smith led Warren Central with 21 points and 11 aces, while Audie Evans finished with 18 points and four aces. Kennedi Mashall added 15 points and four aces.
