City board announces new interim Police Chief and Fire Chief; subject to 50 day evaluation

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg city board reconvened this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. to announce the appointment of interim positions for all department heads, including both Police and Fire Department interim chiefs. Ward 2 Alderwoman Vickie Bailey was also announced as Mayor Pro Tem.

The decision, previously announced last week, is intended to give the new board time to thoroughly evaluate each role and determine the best leadership team to carry out the city’s goals.

According to the board document titled “Resolution to appoint division heads and other appointed positions” the personnel will be subject to an evaluation review within fifty days.

City Clerk – Deborah A. Kaiser-Nickson (Interim)

Police Department:

• Police Chief: Mitchell Dent (Interim)

Fire Department:

• Fire Chief: Trey Martin, III (Interim)
• Deputy Fire Chief of Suppression: Trey Martin, III (Interim)
• Deputy Fire Chief of Ambulance Service: Jessica Cade (Interim)

Legal Department

• City Attorney: Lee D. Thames, Jr. (Interim)
• Asst. City Attorney/Prosecutor: Keyona Henry (Interim)
• Asst. City Prosecutor: Stephen McMillan (Interim)

Municipal Court

• Municipal Court Judge: Angela Carpenter (Interim)
• Municipal Court Judge Pro Tem: Penny Lawson (Interim)
• Municipal Court Clerk: Roslyn Gates (Interim)
