Claiborne County Sheriff urges no bond after shootings, illegal weapon seizures in Hermanville

HERMANVILLE, Miss. (VDN) — Multiple suspects are in custody and several illegal firearms have been recovered following a pair of shooting incidents in Hermanville Tuesday night, according to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department.
According to a press release by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 9:31 p.m. on July 29 to a shooting in progress on Valley of the Moon. While en route, another report came in of shots fired at Michael Dean’s convenience store, also in Hermanville.
Moments later, deputies already patrolling the area observed gunfire being discharged from a black Ford Focus. A pursuit followed, and the vehicle was safely stopped. Three Black male suspects were taken into custody.
During the investigation, deputies also encountered a second vehicle near the scene of a wreck involving four men dressed in black who appeared to be attempting to flee. That vehicle was searched as part of the ongoing case.
Several firearms were recovered from both vehicles, including weapons equipped with illegal modifications known as “switches,” converting them into fully automatic firearms. Some of the weapons were also confirmed to have been stolen.
This remains an active investigation. Sheriff Edward Goods commends his deputies and investigators for their vigilance, rapid response, and commitment to removing violent offenders and illegal weapons from the streets.
All suspects face multiple charges and are scheduled to appear in Justice Court at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31. Sheriff Goods said he will request that no bond be granted.
