Five shootings in Vicksburg and Warren County yesterday

Vicksburg and Warren County had five different shooting incidents Thursday and into Friday morning.

The first report was in the 900 block of Dana Road in the late afternoon. The second report was from residents of the Wildwood subdivision who heard around 10 shots coming from the northwest around 8:30 p.m. The third shooting at Gibson and Halls Ferry resulted in one person being airlifted to a Jackson area hospital. Deputies investigated a reported shooting on Funches road around midnight. Vicksburg Police are working up a press release about a fifth shooting near Ameristar around 1:30 a.m.

On Friday, June 07, 2024 at about 1:17 a.m. Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the 4100 block of Washington Street in reference to a person that was shot.

Upon arrival, Officers observed a wrecked vehicle and 25 year old Devontay Knight suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper extremities. Knight was transported to Merit Health River Region by Medics and was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. At this time, Knight is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
