Summer softball:WC defeated Pearl 6-5 on Thursday
Warren Central opened up their summer softball season with a 6-5 win over Pearl on Thursday night.
Pitcher Maddy Pant struck out a few batters early on and she also hit a double but the game remained scoreless for the first two innings.
In the third inning, the Lady Pirates earned three runs to take the lead. The Lady Vikes got on the board as well after a walk to put the score at 3-1.
Pearl picked up two more runs in the fourth as they advanced their lead to 5-1. After hits hits from KeKe McKay and Pant, WC eventually put some runs on the board. An inside-the-park homerun from Sydney Hern put the score at 5-4.
A single from Reagan Dean and a double from KK Williamson tied the game at five in the final inning. McKay would also get another hit just before Pant smashed the final RBI to give WC the 6-5 win.
Williamson pitched the second half of the win and Emily Muirhead finished with two hits.
The Lady Vikes will play again on Tuesday.
