Flashes defeat Manchester Academy 11-6
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — St. Aloysius picked up an 11-6 road win over Manchester Academy, improving to 2-0 on the season under coach Jay Harper.
Manchester Academy struck first in the opening inning to take a 2-0 lead, but the Flashes answered in the second. Walt Andrews, Pierson Smith and Max Hargrave each delivered RBIs to put St. Aloysius in front 3-2. The inning ended with the Flashes ahead 4-2 after Sadler Lambiotte doubled to bring in the team’s fourth run.
Emerson Blackburn added an RBI in the fourth, and Keller Bradley pushed the advantage to 6-2 when he stole home. Manchester Academy battled back with three runs in the frame to cut the deficit to 6-5.
Andrews came through again in the sixth, sacrificing to extend the St. Aloysius lead to 7-5 just before the Flashes broke things open in the seventh.
William Roberson and Cohen Coomes both collected RBIs in the inning, and both later scored on errors as St. Aloysius pulled away for the 11-6 victory.
Coomes hit a double and went 3 for 3 with one RBI. Smith and Lambiotte each recorded two hits and one RBI. Bradley and Lee finished with one hit apiece, Andrews drove in two runs, and Hargrave added one RBI.
Bradley threw a no-hitter and struck out seven batters. Hargrave struck out three batter in the win.
St. Aloysius will host Tallulah Academy on Friday.
