Gators landed 8 first place finishes at last week’s meet

FLOWOOD, Miss.(VDN) — Vicksburg High School track & field team combined for a total of eight 1st place finishes at the Northwest Rankin Invitational last week. Shaun Archer Jr., Jayden Woods, and James Warfield all came in first place for the boys under Head Coach Paul Wilson Jr. Amiyah Hall, Jamiya Stewart, and Zion Knox all brought home blue ribbons for the girls under Head Coach Deatra Cable.

Results:

Jayden Woods – First place in shot put (39-10) and second place in discus.

Shaun Archer Jr. – First place in discus (127-9) and fifth place in shot put.

Jaylen Butler – Second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.38.

Deitrich Stewart – Second place in high jump (5-6) and third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.28.

Thomas McKnight – Third place in high jump (5-4) and third place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.04.

Karter Thomas – Second place in shot put (39-10).

Marquis Knight – Fifth place in triple jump (40-2).

Jaylen Henderson – Competed in discus with a throw of 103-1.5.

4×800-meter relay team – Fifth place with a time of 9:53.92.

4×200-meter relay team – Second place in 1:31.54. Team members were Deitrich Stewart, Rico Thomas, Reginald Nash and Day’Quan Warfield.

James Warfield – First place in the 110-meter hurdles (17.25) and second place in the 300-meter hurdles (45.29).

Teejay McKinney – Third place in the 300-meter hurdles (45.38) and third place in the 110-meter hurdles.

Day’Quan Warfield – Third place in the 400-meter dash and fourth place in the 200-meter dash.

From the girls’ results sheet:

Amiyah Hall – First place in the 100-meter dash and first place in the 200-meter dash. She also ran on the third-place 4×200-meter relay team.

Xhi Darensburg – Fourth place in the 100-meter hurdles and third place in the 300-meter hurdles.

Nakia Jeffers – Ran on the third-place 4×200-meter relay team, was part of the second-place 800 sprint relay team, and finished third in the triple jump.

Raylyn Parson – Member of the third-place 4×200-meter relay team.

To’Nia Taylor – Member of the third-place 4×200-meter relay team.

Rocsie Stewart – Member of the second-place 800 sprint relay team.

McKenzy Edmond – Member of the second-place 800 sprint relay team.

Zion Knox – First place in long jump, first place in triple jump, fourth place in high jump, and member of the second-place 800 sprint relay team.

Allie Daniel, Zaria Jones, Aaniyah Kelly and Allison Brinner – Members of the second-place distance medley relay team.

Jamiya Stewart – First place in shot put and second place in discus.

Alaina Williams – Second place in shot put.

Jazmyn Ellis – Fifth place in discus.

The girls team finished third overall at the Sprints and Relays meet and second overall at the Field and Distance Invitational.
