Giants finished their basketball season as YMCA Champions
VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — The Giants are the YMCA girls basketball champions after completing an undefeated season under coach LaKimberly Johnson. The team finished 6-0 and controlled the league from start to finish.
The Giants wrapped up the year Thursday with a 47-16 victory over the Bears. Throughout the season, they consistently won in decisive fashion, beating every opponent by at least 20 points except one.
The roster featured five players: Pharrah Moody, Genesis Phelps, Avery McLaughlin, Briella Irwin and Kaylen Randleston. The group combined high-scoring performances with strong defense, giving the Giants an edge each time they stepped on the court. Phelps led the team in scoring with an average of 19.5 points per game, while Moody ranked among the league’s top scorers at 16.4 points per contest.
With the season complete, some members of the team will advance to junior high basketball next year, while others are expected to return to the YMCA to continue developing their games.
