Hattiesburg police investigate fatal Sunday shooting at Hattiesburg apartments

The Hattiesburg Police Department is investigating the deadly shooting that happened Sunday afternoon.

Police told WDAM that the incident happened at Heritage Apartments in Midtown Hattiesburg.

The Hattiesburg Police Department Public Information Office told reporters that officers responded at about 4:05 p.m. Sunday to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of South 29th Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot to death.

The Forrest County coroner’s office said it likely would be able to release the victim’s identity on Monday.
