VPD release crime stats for March, April

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Vicksburg Police Department released the crime statistics for the months of March and April of this year at the regular Board of Mayor and Aldermen held Monday, May 18.

During the two months the department logged 3,053 calls, filed 898 reports, made 226 arrests, issued 138 warrants, wrote 162 citations, gave 15 warnings and reported seven DUI’s.

Over the period there were no murders, manslaughter or rapes reported.

There were two robbery cases, one in March and another in April. Six aggravated assault cases were reported in each month.

March reported four business burglaries and four residential burglaries, while April had one report of a residential burglary.

There were 11 auto burglaries in March- eight involved unsecured vehicles while three were unknown.  In April there were 14 auto burglaries logged with one involving a secured vehicle, 11 involved unsecured vehicles and two cases were unknown.

There were seven auto thefts reported in both March and April, with no carjackings.

Each month reported a single kidnapping, however, there were 21 cases of domestic violence reported in March and 25 cases reported in April.
