VDP release crime stats for April, May

According to the report the department logged 3,372 calls for the period. There were 977 reports files, 266 arrests made, 123 warrants served, 176 citations given, six warnings granted and 10 DUI’s issued.

A positive on the report was there were no reports of murder, manslaughter, rape or carjackings during the two month time span.

There were two reports of robbery- one in April and one in May. As far as business burglary there were two reports in May and none in the month prior. VPD reported one residential burglary in April and seven in May.

April had six incidents of aggravated assault and there were 10 reported in May.

As far as auto burglaries there were 14 reported in April- one from a secured vehicle, 11 from unsecured vehicles and two unknown. May had 12 auto burglaries with three from secured vehicles, five from unknown vehicles and four unknown.

Additionally, there were seven cases of auto theft in April and the number dropped to three in May.

There was only one report of kidnapping which occurred in April.

The large numbers came in concerning cases of domestic violence. The department reported 25 incidents in April and 24 during the month of May.
