Man robbed and assaulted during drug deal on Halls Ferry Road

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — 

A man was robbed and assaulted while attempting to buy illegal narcotics Thursday night on Halls Ferry Road, according to the Vicksburg Police Department.

Officers responded to a reported robbery around 9:30 p.m. on June 11 in the 4000 block of Halls Ferry Road.

According to VPD, the victim had arranged to meet several individuals for an illegal narcotics transaction. During the encounter, the victim reportedly removed his wallet to pay for the drugs when one of the individuals took it. Police said the victim was then assaulted by multiple suspects before they fled the area.

Investigators said the incident does not appear to have been a random act of violence.

The victim suffered minor injuries, including abrasions to both wrists, the top of his head and an ear.

The investigation remains active.
