Gunfire at Parkwood South with injuries
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — At least one person was injured in a gunfire incident at Parkwood South apartments in Vicksburg.
Just after 1:30 a.m., gunshots rang out at Parkwood South apartments near buildings five and six. At the time of this report, one person, a female, has been confirmed to have been injured in the shooting with undetermined injuries.
A few minutes after the shooting was reported, a male arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. At the time of this report, police had not determined if the male was injured in the Parkwood South incident.
Shell casings of differing calibers were found in the parking lot and on a porch area, indicating that two parties were exchanging gunfire. A vehicle in the parking lot near building 6 was also struck by a stray bullet.
There is no word on the male’s condition, but the female’s wounds do not appear to be life-threatening.
There is also property damage related to the shootings, including that one vehicle struck by gunfire.
This is a developing story and more information will be provided once the VPD has completed their initial investigation.
