Warren County, Miss. (VDN) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol will be increasing patrols in the construction zone at the Warren County/Hinds County line.

Numerous accidents, including fatalities, have happened in the construction area near the Big Black River. The narrowing of lanes and subsequent backup of traffic has caused 180 crashes so far this year. The construction work will continue for at least the next year.

In a release, Troop C of the Mississippi Highway Patrol stated, “In response to the 180 crashes reported this year along I-20 East and Westbound in Warren and Hinds County, the Highway Patrol is increasing patrols in the construction zones to promote roadway safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws.

Our Troopers are committed to protecting all motorists, preventing accidents, and keeping our roads safe for families, commuters, and visitors. We encourage everyone to drive responsibly, obey traffic regulations, and exercise extra caution in construction areas.”
