It will be Mayfield vs Hollingsworth on May 30

The runoff election on Thursday, May 30 will be between Daryl Hollingsworth and Thomas “TJ” Mayfield. The special eleciton for the position of Ward One Alderman that was held on Thursday, May 9 had ten candidates with none of them getting more than 50 percent of the vote. State law says a runoff election has to be held.

On May 30 the candidate with the most votes will become the new Alderman for the position made vacant upon the death of Alderman Michael Mayfield earlier this year. Mayfield, father of candidate Thomas “TJ” Mayfield, passed after a brief illness.

The Vicksburg Daily News hosted both candidates in a Q & A session prior to the May 9 special eleciton
