CLINTON, Miss. (VDN) — Jayla Hicks, a Vicksburg native, has been named to the Mississippi High School Activities Association Region 2-7A All-Academic Team. Hicks was one of four Clinton High School volleyball players to earn the honor, joining teammates Zaley Madkin, Joelle Ambrose and Tenley Prestwood.

Hicks is a sophomore defensive standout for the Lady Arrows and competed this season under first-year head coach Natalie Duvall. Known for her standout athletic ability, Hicks finished the year with 183 digs and was recognized with the team’s Defensive Award for her consistent play.

Her accomplishments extend beyond the court. In September, Hicks was named Clinton High School’s Student-Athlete of the Month for her academic performance, leadership and involvement on campus. Earlier this month, she also participated in the Mississippi Youth Legislature at the State Capitol, where she served as a student senator.

Hicks’ selection to the All-Academic Team highlights her commitment to both athletics and academics as she continues to excel in her sophomore year.
