FAYETTE, Miss. (VDN)Jefferson County School District is proud to announce the promotion of Mr. Keith Evans to Head Baseball Coach at Jefferson County High School for the 2025–2026 school year.

A devoted educator, skilled tradesman, and lifelong athlete, Coach Evans brings a powerful blend of discipline, mentorship, and passion to the diamond—ready to lead the Tigers with vision, heart, and purpose.

A 2005 graduate of Port Gibson High School, Mr. Evans is no stranger to hard work or perseverance. He earned an Associate of Applied Science in Occupational Education (Carpentry Technology) from Hinds Community College, followed by a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies with a concentration in Physical Education/Recreation from Alcorn State University in 2021. He went on to complete a Master’s degree in Workforce Education Leadership from Alcorn in 2024 and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Athletic Administration and Coaching—demonstrating an unwavering commitment to both personal growth and student achievement.

Since 2018, Mr. Evans has served the Jefferson County School District as the Construction Core & Carpentry Instructor, instilling life skills, confidence, and craftsmanship in students both inside and outside the classroom. He has also been a dedicated assistant baseball coach for the past three seasons—laying the groundwork for this next leadership role with his hands-on approach, high expectations, and servant leadership.

Coach Evans is a proud member of SkillsUSA and the National Technical Honor Society, and he continually encourages his students to turn their talents into opportunities for lifelong success. His ability to motivate, mentor, and connect with students will now serve as the foundation of a growing and energized Tiger baseball program.

“Coach Evans is a builder—in every sense of the word,” said Athletic Director Lorenzo Thomas.
Whether in the classroom or on the field, he helps young men develop grit, discipline, and character. Our baseball program is in great hands.”

Coach Evans is a devoted family man, husband to Takeydra Evans, and father of five: Keith Jr., Legend, Taytum, Paisleigh, and Harleigh. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with his wife, spending quality time with family, and putting his construction skills to good use—building porches, dog houses, sheds, and more.

“I’m humbled and grateful for this opportunity,” said Coach Evans. “My mission is to lead with purpose, prepare our young men for life beyond the field, and build a baseball program rooted in pride, progress, and teamwork.”

With Coach Evans at the helm, Jefferson County High School’s baseball program is poised for a new era—where commitment, character, and community take the lead.
