Lady Vikes defeated Olive Branch 11-4 in round one of the playoffs

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Warren Central rolled past Olive Branch 11-4 Tuesday night in the first round of the playoffs, using a big second half to pull away after a tight opening period.

The Lady Vikes led 4-3 at halftime before erupting for five goals after the break to secure the postseason win. Jordan Polk and Laney Bull paced the offensive attack, while Addi Mullen, Brooke Steed, Allie Mason and Chloe Sumerall each contributed in the scoring column or helped set up goals.

Polk struck early and often for Warren Central. She opened the night with a goal off an assist from Mullen, then added another with Steed earning the assist. Mullen later found the net herself, and Polk tacked on two more in the half, including one assisted by Mason.

Bull added a first-half goal with Sumerall credited for the assist to keep the Lady Vikes in front.

After the break, Warren Central created separation. Bull scored three times in the second half, including a goal assisted by Mason and another set up by Mullen. Steed also recorded two second-half goals, with Mason assisting on one of them.

Warren Central will return to action Friday when it hosts Center Hill in the second round.
