A Warren County man has been charged after crashing his vehicle, breaking into a workshop, stealing a vehicle from there, crashing it as well, and then stealing another vehicle.

Sheriff Pace said, “On the morning of January 7th, at about 10:45, we had a report in the 7200 block of Freetown Road. A call was that someone had entered an office and a workshop. There was a vehicle on site belonging to the owner that had wrecked and another vehicle was missing.”

The report goes on to explain the individual in question had wrecked their vehicle the night before. The person in question then apparently broke into a shop on a nearby property and spent the night in there. While there they took some steaks out and cooked them along with drinking several beers.

“They cooked the steaks on-site, they drank the beverages,” explained Pace. “They actually got into a vehicle that was parked there, wrecked the truck on-site, probably totaled that vehicle out. It was a white F-150. They then stole a second truck, a maroon F-250.”

Later that afternoon, Lt. Stacy Rollison received a call stating the maroon F-250 was seen parked on Blake Drive. Rollison identified the truck as the stolen F-250. A person was detained at that residence because the vehicle was parked in front of their house.

“Since then the investigators were able to put all this together. To identify this individual we do have physical evidence as well as video that we’ve identified the individual that we’ve charged,” said Sheriff Pace. “We’ve charged Elvin Westcott, 44 years of age, with burglary, malicious mischief for the destruction of the vehicle left on site and auto theft for the vehicle that was taken.”

Judge Randy Lewis set bond at $100,000 and the case will be returnable to the next term of the Grand Jury. Westcott is currently in the Warren County Jail.
