Mississippi AG’s Office, Orlando police ask for tips in sexual abuse case against Dr. Mehul Dixit, former UMMC doctor

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office is seeking information in an ongoing investigation involving Dr. Mehul Dixit, who was indicted Aug. 11 by a Hinds County grand jury on 13 counts of gratification of lust of a vulnerable person and 12 counts of sexual battery of a vulnerable person.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the charges stem from alleged incidents during clinical visits between 2013 and 2023. Dixit previously worked as a pediatric nephrologist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The Orlando Police Department also has an open criminal investigation concerning allegations that Dixit sexually battered underage female patients while practicing medicine in Florida. Orlando police believe there may be additional victims and urge anyone with information to come forward.
