USACE announces December dates for Arkabutla Lake deer hunt for physically challenged

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District has set dates for the 36th annual Arkabutla Lake Physically Challenged Deer Hunt, scheduled for two three-day sessions on Dec. 5-7 and Dec. 12-14, 2025.

The event is open to participants who are quadriplegic, paraplegic, ambulatory with the use of leg braces or crutches, or have other permanent physical limitations.

Applications are available at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office and online at www.mvk.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Arkabutla-Lake. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at 3 p.m. Applicants will be notified during the second week of November if selected.

The Vicksburg District covers a 68,000-square-mile area across portions of Mississippi, Arkansas and Louisiana, managing nine major river basins and about 460 miles of Mississippi River levees.
