VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — Mari-Kynlea “MK” Ferguson of Warren Central High School has been selected to play in the Mississippi Association of Coaches Rising Stars All-Star Softball Game.

Ferguson, a sophomore catcher for the Lady Vikes, is in her third year as a starter and has quickly become one of the team’s top performers. She plays under head coach Brian Ellis.

As a freshman last season, Ferguson recorded 21 hits and 18 RBIs while posting a .968 fielding percentage behind the plate.

She will compete for the North Team in the Rising Stars All-Star Game, which features sophomore standouts from schools across Classes 1A through 7A.

The North team will be coached by Corinth High School’s Maggi Vondenstein and Oxford High School’s Dana McGivney.

The games are scheduled for May 28-29 at Jones College.
