VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Porter’s Chapel Academy seniors pulled off a lighthearted prank last weekend by listing the school for sale and surprising their headmaster with an overnight campout in his front yard.

The senior class at the private Christian school worked with administrators to stage part of the prank, which included placing “for sale” signs on campus and draping trees with toilet paper. The asking price? A symbolic $2,025.

“High school is all about making memories,” said Headmaster Blake Purvis. “We approved what they were doing and monitored what they were doing, and allowed them to have fun and make memories with their class as a senior class.”

However, the seniors secretly coordinated the camping trip with Purvis’s wife, keeping it hidden from the headmaster. He didn’t discover the prank until the next morning, when he checked his security cameras and saw several students asleep in his front yard.

“That was the part I was not aware of. We had talked about everything else, and I monitored everything else, but my wife got in on that part of it,” laughed Purvis. “The next morning when I woke up I went outside and gave them a little shower with the water hose. I got in on the fun and games with them.”

Despite the senior class’s asking price of $2,025, Purvis clarified that the school is not for sale.

“We’re definitely not for sale, we’re going to keep going and give our future classes the opportunity to make memories and have a fun high school experience, offer them a good education, and all the things we offer,” said Purvis.
